Answer for question 4456.

Would you rather improve your ability to remember things or to forget things? What event from your past do you wish you could remember more clearly? What's one thing you really, really wish you could just forget?
"How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat. Some dance to remember, some dance to forget."-The Eagles, Hotel California

I tend to forget the little things: My keys, my glasses, buying cat food. I guess that's more about mindfulness than memory as such. I have a terrible short term memory and wish I could improve on it

Having said that, my long term memory is amazing. People think I am a lot smarter than I really am, just because I am able to memorize and regurgitate. I'm one of those people who remembers every conversation I ever had with anyone, providing I was paying attention at the time.
At the end of the day, we are the sum of our memories. Choosing to forget anything is like seeing the light and turning your back on it.

Remember that, before you choose to forget anything else!

I think you've got the right of it-- that often what we mistake for "a memory problem" is often more related to mindfulness or distraction or something else rather than a real memory deficit.

My "problem" is that I remember far too much. Sigh. Yet, I wouldn't change even that for the world.
